Union Meeting Reminders!! July 10, 2014 & August 7, 2014 - (6/23/2014)

Please remember that due to Local 24 hosting the National JAC Conference, the July Union Meeting has been moved to Thursday, July 10, 2014.

Also - a reminder that the August Union Meeting is a Special Called Meeting for nominations for the following offices:  President, Executive Board Members (2); Medical Trustee, Pension Trustee; and any other position that may become available.

As provided in Article XX of the International Constitution and Bylaws, in order to be eligible for the position of local union president, vice president, business manager/financial secretary or business agent, a member must have worked as a member of the International for at least five (5) years; worked as a mechanic for at least two (2) years; been in continuous good standing for at least two (2) years; been a member of Local 24 for at least two (2) years and in attendance at a majority of regular local union meetings held during the twelve (12) months prior to the date of nomination.  In order to be eligible for any other position, a member must have worked as a mechanic for at least one (1) year and been in continuous good standing for at least two (2) years.

Be advised that any officer who accepts nomination for a different office must vacate the office he presently holds in order to run for that different office unless his current term of office expires when the term of the office sought starts.  If this occurs, nominations will be accepted for all open offices and any office that may become vacant by reason of a currently serving officer’s acceptance of nomination for another office.

A candidate for local union office may be nominated in his or her absence, provided there is a written communication from him or her signifying willingness to serve.
